Working with people who are moving through challenging life events and personal transitions always reminds me of the preciousness of life experiences: what we do with them, how we traverse and harness them, and the directions we take as we move through them.
It offers an opportunity for a beautiful form of questioning…
So tell me, what are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?
As asked in Mary Oliver’s poetry.
And it is indeed a lovely inquiry, isn’t it.
What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?
It offers so many openings, and explorings, both metaphorically, and literally, in the responding.
I don’t know. And that can be a good place to start.
I wish I could. A fabulous segue into what you can do, to tap into the heart.
If only I did. What is it that got in the way, could be the underlying theme of the day.
Something is missing. Unpacking what that might be can define a new way.
The rug has been pulled out from right under me. Working from the floor, and moving up may be the best way to see.
Much of my work in the area of career transition coaching, is usually arrived at a time when people are reviewing many parts of their lives, and experiencing a multitude of considerations.
A testimonial from one coachee, a specialist and Manager in her organisation, demonstrates what a turn that can take.
When she embarked on her program with me, her future felt tenuous. She had experienced some personal losses, and challenges in her work environment, and her organisation wanted to make an investment, to renew her contentment. With coaching, she lit a new fire of light, for herself and within her organisation and industry, blazing an improved enthusiasm, and performance, for the path she now takes. She has kindly given me permission to share a testimonial of her experience…
I started with Sara following significant events in my personal and professional life which left me with depression and anxiety. Sara worked with me to repair the damage from these events and rebuild my confidence personally and professionally. With Sara’s coaching I have taken steps to transform myself into a more focused, self-assured person with a clear idea of who I am and what I stand for. Sara’s emotional intelligence, honesty, and insights into human frailty and working environments set her apart from anything else I have experienced. Sara tells me it was a journey I needed to go through…I am very grateful that she has been with me on that journey. I have continued to develop from strength to strength, with continued improved workplace opportunities.
It is a privilege for me to dedicate some of my one wild and precious life to journeys like this, and to assist leaders and HR professionals who wish to invest in their people.
If you or your people need help, with career and life leadership transitions, I have coaching programs that may be of assistance. 2018 may be just the right year for renewed opportunities.
