Paved Way
I was reminded in a conversation recently about one of my favourite movie scenes. It is in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. One of many cinematic storytelling experiences that epitomises an archetypal hero's journey, and a filmwatching pastime in which you may have...
Isn’t it funny…
I was recently reminded about some words, from the legacy of C.S. Lewis ... Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different. And it is a funny group of words on which to focus. Particularly now. As there is undoubtedly an...
Healing the Anima Mundi
Here we are, again, working through the darkness, of another cleansing, that arises in the collective psyches of the Anima Mundi (or World Soul). Standing, at the precipice, of another correction. Being challenged to re-align with what it is to be diversely divine, as...
Pilgrimage Beginnings
The word pilgrimage has been coming up a lot lately. A sacred voyage. Often described as a voyage to another place, somewhere away, somewhere immersed in an alternative reality. To find communion with oneself, out of everyday disparity. A new immersive experience. And...
Connected
You may have been feeling into the significance, and the immensity, of the intensity, in the collective around the caronavirus panic, and the next waves of change. And observing your own reactions, and the reactions around you, to the situations we are facing. It is...
Course Corrections
Occasionally I see people requesting me to assist them to manoeuvre through a process of 'going back' to a career role at a previous level. Either in their existing company, or with a new organisation, following a redundancy, or voluntarily. Their concern is how it...
For a new decade…
I have been contemplating what to say at this turning point, with 2020 in sight. And three themes, to review, appreciate and renew, using quotes from literature and poetry, emerged, to guide the write. To review the last decade: It was the best of times, it was the...
Walking through the Cauldron
How are you around change? And your openness to new conditions? How well do you enter the places of the unfamiliar? And the areas of vulnerability within each endeavour? When do you create spaces for contemplating? And a reverence, for the process, of managing...
The starting point is the Self.
"Love thy neighbour as thyself....It would do us good to take this thing somewhat to heart, especially the phrase "as thyself". How can I love my neighbour if I do not love myself? How can we be altruistic if we do not treat ourselves decently? But if we treat...
Trails and Coves, towards New Opportunities
One of my favourite pastimes is bushwalking. Finding new walks that are not so easily marked. Going off the trodden way, to have a look see, with curiosity, and finding new things to marvel in, before getting back on path. A lovely analogy, on the life of the...
One Spark Ignites Another
This mandala from the mandala'verse collection is titled One Spark. Why One Spark, when there are two heart flames? Because sometimes one heart helps to ignite another, and assists it to lift brighter. That Spark could be a word, an idea, a helping hand, a taught...
Chaos is a ladder.
Chaos is a ladder. I have borrowed those words from a line in Game of Thrones. If you, like me, enjoyed it's evolving story, it offered rich fodder for observing the games people play, and the character arcs and manoeuvres that follow. And while it is fantasy...
Rainy Days and Mondays…
We have been experiencing many rainy days of late. Which can make it challenging to motivate. Particularly on a Monday, with events that have honed attention, on the world stage. For me my Monday morning included a quick peruse through my LinkedIn news feeds, to tap...
Your Unique Story
I have dipped into a novel again. Yet it is more than just a novel. It speaks to me more deeply. It is by the German Novelist Hermann Hesse (b1877 - d1962) titled Demian. I remember reading The Glass Bead Game/Magister Ludi by the same author when I was a teenager,...
The Breathings of Your Heart
It has come to that time of year, when time is speeding up. Or so it would appear, as we edge further toward Christmas cheer. That time of year when things can become particularly frantic. As the heart beat starts to race to keep up, with the extra tasks, last minute...
A Picture of You
Personal Branding is one of the key aspects of professional positioning. And one of the most significant ways to express it is in your resume, CV, or bio document. Such a document, has two specific benefits: It is personal and encapsulating to you, as it describes...
The Perpetual Process of Wholeness
Wholeness is a perpetual process. Life can throw us into new experiences. And call us to manage changes, challenges, and developments, with as much balance as we can manage. Some events are unexpected, and require time and care to work through a process. Even when...
Confident Competence Steps
Each of us has times in our lives when we lack confidence. When we struggle with the building blocks of skills, and the belief we need, to take our next steps of opportunities, especially when we are embarking on new territories. We can confront many vulnerabilities...
